It is always so amazing to see my designs come full circle from a spark of an idea to a finished product. It's hard to believe that from one thought in my mind, to one sketch on paper, to one design on a computer, to one store owner selling, to one customer actually buying, that my fabric collection is made into a work of art through someone else's hands! The whole creative journey from start to finish is so cool which is why I am thrilled to share this post with you today! Follow below my "With Love" fabric collection by Camelot Fabrics from my inspiration to reality!
I begin every collection with a trend board. I collect photos, color palettes, design ideas, and put them all into one place that represents my inspiration for the new collection. I then start creating numerous patterns in a zillion color combinations until a cohesive look begins to emerge that I love! I narrow the prints down, select final textile colors, and voila! A textile collection has been born! These are some of the final fabrics for "With Love" in caramel, blush pink, ivory and gray...yum.
Several months later, these luscious yards of fabric are lucky enough to land in the hands of my talented friend Alexandra Zemak.
She embarks on sewing her first quilt ever using the Side Braid Quilt Pattern by Jeni Baker during her classes at Thimble Bee Sewing School here in Charlotte, NC. Here's a glimpse of how it looked in progess:
At long last, her beautiful quilt is finished! I now call upon the talents of another friend, photographer Lori Stewart, to capture some quilt love from behind the lens.
I am so humbled and honored that my fabrics are turned into something so much more beautiful than I could have ever imagined! Thank you to Camelot Fabrics, Alexandra, and Lori for bringing my design dreams to fruition!
"With Love" From Me to Hue on Valentine's Day,
Jackie
